Collaborative Projects & Events

Sponsor a Collaborative Project or Event

If your business or organization, school or civic group wants to plant trees or remove honeysuckle for its next community service or employee or member event, Taking Root can help find a location, obtain manpower or trees, consult or otherwise assist.

If you’re planning an event to celebrate Earth Day or an occasion that can include opportunity to promote awareness of what’s happening to trees, why it matters and how to get involved, then Taking Root may be able to supply educational materials or tree seedlings for distribution, give a presentation, or show the locally-produced, award-winning film Trees in Trouble.

For these or other ways to collaborate on projects or events that can add trees to our region or promote awareness of why and how to maintain our trees, contact us!

Recent Collaborative Projects

Amazon employees contacted Taking Root in 2019 for the third year in a row to help arrange a tree-planting project for which they donated the funds (matched by Amazon) and did the planting, while Taking Root sourced the trees and otherwise assisted. Due to Amazon employees’ initiative, tree canopy is expanding at the Boys and Girls Club in Newport, Cooper High School in Boone County and Clark Montessori High School in Cincinnati.

The Flying Pig Marathon has been teaming up with Taking Root since 2015 to plant trees along its 26-mile race-course to help offset its carbon footprint. The marathon’s Green Team provides funds, and Taking Root collaborates with Cincinnati Parks Urban Forestry and other partners to identify planting locations, source the trees and plant them. Flying Pig trees are providing shade and beauty along parts of U.S 52/Riverside Drive, Delta Avenue, Victory Parkway and, most recently, Madison Park along Madison Road.
